Install on a Mac

  1. Open the .dmg you downloaded and drag Minikong into your Applications folder.
  2. Open Minikong from Applications. The first time you open it, macOS asks you to confirm, because it was downloaded from the internet.
  3. On first launch, the setup guide (미니콩 준비하기) walks you through turning on Accessibility and Input Monitoring. To do it again later, click the menu bar icon to open Settings and click the permission buttons on the Check (검사) tab. Screen & System Audio Recording isn’t needed.

  4. In Settings, click Test input (시험 입력…) on the General tab, type ‘할께요.’ and check it. If it changes to ‘할게요.’, you’re all set.

If an older Minikong or DoubleCheck is running, quit it from the menu bar first. You can move any leftover DoubleCheck.app to the Trash; your settings carry over.

Starting with 0.9.17, Minikong downloads new versions in the background and installs them while you’re idle. You’ll find the switch under Settings → General → Automatic updates (자동 업데이트). If you’re on 0.9.16 or earlier, install this version by hand one last time. If checking stops after an update, click Recheck permissions (권한 다시 확인) on the Check tab.

Install on Windows

  1. Open Minikong-Setup.exe. If ‘Windows protected your PC’ appears, click More info, then Run anyway. The installer isn’t code-signed yet, so this can appear when you open a downloaded installer. Minikong installs for your user account only and doesn’t need admin rights.
  2. Minikong opens as soon as setup finishes. To open Settings, click its icon in the notification area at the right end of the taskbar (click ^ to show hidden icons). There are no permissions to grant.
  3. In Settings, click Test input (시험 입력…) on the General tab, type ‘할께요.’ and check it. If it changes to ‘할게요.’, you’re all set.

Windows security rules keep Minikong from reading programs that run as administrator. New versions arrive through automatic updates (Settings → General), and your settings carry over.

Verify the file (optional)

You can check that the file’s SHA-256 matches the value above. On a Mac, run shasum -a 256 filename in Terminal; on Windows, run Get-FileHash filename in PowerShell.
